Travis Porter member Strap was arrested at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on Wednesday when the Transportation Security Administration found a gun in the rapper’s backpack. During a visit to Shade 45′s “Sway in the Morning” show on Friday (February 17), Strap reiterated that the mishap was an “honest mistake.”

Strap was en route to New York City for a promotional show when his bag was flagged during a routine security checkpoint. The Atlanta rapper explained to MTV News correspondent and “Sway in the Morning” host Sway Calloway that it was a case of bad memory. “[I was] moving fast man, leaving the studio to catch an early flight,” Strap said. “[It was] an honest-to-God mistake.

“Ain’t no alarm go off,” Strap continued, explaining that he was confused when TSA agents approached him. “Ten people came over and they’re like, ‘Is this your bag? There’s a 9MM in this bag, sir.’ ”

Strap would not comment on whether he admitted to security that the gun belonged to him. Fellow Travis Porter member Quez was present during the ordeal and earlier in the week he told MTV News what took place. “It was crazy, because he was looking so confused,” Quez said, detailing the search and arrest. “He didn’t know what was going on, and they told him, ‘You got some business in your bag, bro.’ ”

Travis Porter first gained notoriety after appearing on Roscoe Dash’s 2008 hit “All the Way Turnt Up,” and in 2010, the trio broke kept the momentum going with their hit “Make It Rain,” which peaked at #9 on the Billboard rap charts and stirred up interest in the group’s delayed debut album, No Sleep to Atlanta, on RCA Records.

<b>LOS ANGELES</b> &#8212; "The X Factor" top seven are back on the lot after their first (and only) mini-vacation of the season. And as the Thanksgiving tryptophan wears off, the anxiety of another double elimination is setting in.

Adding to the stress? "The X Factor" is tackling the songs of <a href="http://www.mtv.com/music/artist/jackson_michael/artist.jhtml">Michael Jackson</a> on Wednesday night (November 30), on the 29th anniversary of <i>Thriller</i>'s release, no less.

One of the contestants is so stressed over the theme he's emerged as a total perfectionist. During Monday's rehearsals, he had already nixed multiple arrangements the show had provided him. "This is the most unprepared I've felt on a Monday," he said to his mentor as they rushed out of Stage 36. There was a camera crew chasing them to capture the drama &#8212; as well as the ensuing late-night emergency meeting with the vocal coaches &#8212; so don't be surprised if some of this intense footage ends up in your living room. (This afternoon's dress rehearsal went swimmingly, for the record.)

Meanwhile, one contestant had a full-on battle with his/her mentor over a chair. The mentor said, "Sit and sing." The contestant said, "Again?! How about I do something on my feet for Michael Jackson week?" Another mentor came to the defense of the contestant. In the end, the contestant is sitting after all. Don't worry, contestant. The eerie arrangement of an MJ classic is what folks are going to be buzzing about. No one will care if you sit or stand. In the control room, I spied one of the bigwigs utter the word "brilliant!" after the contestant's dress rehearsal.

Another hot topic: wardrobe! When paying homage to one of the biggest music icons ever, it's tempting for the stylists to include clothing nods to Michael's various looks. But several singers are worried they'll look too much like Jackson impersonators, which has caused many a headache in the wardrobe trailer. But stylist June Ambrose is still able to keep things light in the midst of the drama. While waiting around for a contestant's last-minute fitting, she started an impromptu MJ dance party on the lot. Crotch grabs and "woo" included!

Lastly, Paula Abdul's sunny energy has been noticeably absent on the CBS lot now that all her groups have been eliminated. She went from being the most hands-on mentor to an on-set ghost. "The X Factor" family can't wait to welcome her back for her first live show as strictly a judge. What do you think she's been doing with her newfound free time?

"Harry Potter" fans will be pleased to hear that their favorite wizards, and the actors who played them, from <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/movie/383853/moviemain.jhtml">"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2"</a> earned the most nominations, with four total, for Favorite Movie, Favorite Book (the "Harry Potter" series), <a href="http://www.mtv.com/movies/person/264615/personmain.jhtml">Daniel Radcliffe</a> for Favorite Movie Actor and Emma Watson for Favorite Movie Actress. The surprising second-place vote-getter is "The Smurfs," which nabbed three nominations including Favorite Movie, Sofia Vergara for Favorite Movie Actress and Katy Perry for Favorite Voice in an Animated Movie.

Not to worry, "Twilight" fans, your favorite franchise is nominated in two categories: Favorite Book (the "Twilight" series) and Kristen Stewart for Favorite Movie Actress.

Other notable nominees include superstars in the music categories: LMFAO, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift, who each received two nods and will battle it out for Favorite Group/ Female Singer and Favorite Song. Derek Jeter and Tim Tebow were nominated for Favorite Male Athlete, and Serena and Venus Williams are each up for Favorite Female Athlete.

On March 1, kids will be able to cast their votes in 20 total categories across all of Nickelodeon's digital outlets, including Nick.com, the Nick Mobile app and Nickelodeon's Facebook page and Twitter feed. Nick.com fans can vote using a Facebook application that will live on the Nickelodeon Facebook page. Users will be able to vote from a tab on the page and, for the first time ever, the entire voting experience can be embedded directly into Facebook wall posts. Also new this year, fans will be able to vote for their favorite nominees on Twitter through the use of custom hashtags.

The 25th Annual Kids' Choice Awards will be hosted by Will Smith and air live on Saturday, March 31, at 8 p.m.</p>

On whether he wants to direct:
“Yeah, I do. And if I did direct, I would try to have the same no bulls**t approach to it as he [Clint Eastwood] and his crew have. Seriously there are no frills on his set. It’s a small tightknit crew.”

Since Bieber burst on the scene with his <i>My World</i> EP back in 2009, the 17-year-old has grown up with the world watching. He's gone from up-and-comer to full-fledged pop sensation, racking up chart-topping albums and a box-office hit and becoming an all-around mega-heartthrob &#8212; all in two years.

Of course, with the good does come negative attention as well. Recently, Bieber was hit with a <a href="/news/articles/1674509/justin-bieber-paternity-suit-dropped-2.jhtml">paternity lawsuit, which has since been dropped</a>.

Usher, no stranger to his own controversies, had these words for the Biebs: "Stay strong. And know that all of this comes with the territory."

Aside from the drama, Usher is especially proud of Bieber's charitable side. His mentor said he "absolutely" knew the kid from Stratford, Ontario, had a big heart from the start.

"To write a check is only half of it, but when you truly take on a responsibility to be a philanthropist, you accept an effort, and I really think that Pencils of Promise is something that has a very bright future," <a href="/news/articles/1674628/justin-bieber-new-york-city.jhtml">Usher told MTV News at an event for the charity</a>, noting that Bieber is a only a small part of it.

Usher &#8212; who appears on Bieber's new Christmas album, <a href="/news/articles/1673032/justin-bieber-usher-christmas-song.jhtml"><i>Under the Mistletoe</i></a> &#8212; gives credit to the folks surrounding the teen superstar, including manager Scooter Braun. "Just judging from the determination and the will power of the entire team around Justin, I see a very, very promising [future] for him as a philanthropist," Usher said.</p>

‘My next baby will be my new record,’ singer says of her own motherhood plans.

Lady Gaga and Beyoncé are besties, and when the Mother Monster sat down with “The Insider,” she gushed about her pal’s skills as a soon-to-be mommy.

“Of course she is [going to be a good mom]. That’s a tremendous understatement,” the singer said. “She’s the nicest female I’ve met in the industry. She’s wonderful!”

The two have quite the history together. Gaga and Beyoncé have appeared on two tracks (and in two videos) together for “Telephone” and “Video Phone.” And while Beyoncé is nearing motherhood, Gaga admits she wants to wait a bit longer before giving birth to anything — but new music, that is.
“Someday. Long, long day from now!” she said. “My next baby will be my new record.”

When MTV News caught up with Gaga last month, she opened up about her plans to release the follow-up to Born This Way. “I’ve started writing it and I have the name for it and all the concepts are beginning to flourish and take place,” she told MTV News.

But much like Beyoncé and her baby, a due date for the Mother Monster’s next album is still to be determined. “I’m excited to put it out, but it’s not done yet. So I’ll put it out when it’s done.”

Meanwhile, one psychic who spoke to MTV News helped us try to nail down just when we should expect Jayoncé’s baby. “I feel that Beyoncé’s 2012 is going to be very, very exciting,” Jesse Bravo told MTV News. “I get the date of January 8 to January 14 of her giving birth to her first son.”

As 2012 rolls along, Lady Gaga has already teased she has some big plans ahead. So MTV News decided to look to New York-based psychic Jesse Bravo to see what fate has in store for the pop superstar. Bravo recently rolled up to the MTV News offices and looked into his crystal ball.

“Lady Gaga for 2012, it’s going to be sort of a slower year for her because she has her tour, which means she’s not putting out a lot of new material,” Bravo explained, despite Gaga’s tease that she is working on her follow-up to 2011′s Born This Way. “So for me, when I sort of looked up around there to see what was happening for her, I saw her sales sort of slow down because of new material. But she’s also building up this new momentum for running her base for this tour. This tour is going to be really good for her.”

Gaga has already thought about the Born This Way Ball, tweeting over the holidays that she was pondering the things she wants to sell on tour. “Designing merch for the tour, when you see it you will die. #deathbyinexpensiveglamour,” she wrote.

Mother Monster is also famously known for her wild style, which Bravo said won’t disappoint in the next 12 months. “I believe her next big outfit is a cross between two things, and I was sort of stuck in between, like, where I should go with this because I saw two outfits, which means they can come in succession,” he said. “I don’t know which one is going to come first. But I will believe the one that I saw is this outfit, and I can’t really describe it, but it’s going to have lights embedded in it. So it’s going to be pretty bizarre. And then I saw another outfit and it’s like a body outfit, one that you spray-paint on, and I don’t know if it’s a stars-and-stripes theme, but I saw that there were stars and stripes in the right areas.”

In addition to all the ups in her career, Gaga’s personal life will also prosper, according to Bravo, which means that she may get even more serious with her rumored beau and “You and I” co-star, “Vampire Diaries” actor Taylor Kinney.

“Her personal life is going to stay stable for a while. The reason why is that on the outside she shows she’s a strong character — and for business she is — but on the inside she’s a mush. And so as a result, she needs to have her relationship in place, especially right now when she needs that support on going on something that’s so big,” he said. “Two years is a long, long time [to tour]. I don’t think that relationship is going … it’s not going out.”

Just how serious might they get? Well, Gaga, believe it or not, is already pondering a family, according to Bravo. (Although she did note in a recent interview that the only family she is focused on is her new music.)

“I also feel this need of having children. So I don’t know how this is going to play because we know she has a tour and she’s not going to stop the tour short to have a child,” Bravo predicted. “And I know that work is on her mind, but I know that [her spirit guide] Liberace is telling me about a child. And I know that in the back of her mind, she wants one. I think with her, it’s about scheduling … and I would say we’re looking somewhere at 2014-2015. That’s going to be her time.”

‘I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,’ actor says.

Hugh Jackman is ready to hit the Great White Way once again. The actor has been confirmed to take the stage as the lead in “Houdini” Deadline reports.

“I have been deeply fascinated by the life of Harry Houdini since I was young, and in many ways I’ve been preparing for this role my whole life,” Jackman said in a statement. “I am thrilled to be collaborating with this collection of artists who are all at the top of their game.”

The play, written by “The Social Network” screenwriter Aaron Sorkin, will open during the 2013/2014 season. Sorkin will work with composer Stephen Schwartz and director Jack O’Brien.

“Rather than being a biography, ‘Houdini,’ told in a contemporary tone, tells the story of an epic battle that took place between the world’s greatest illusionist and a trio of women, known as ‘Spiritualists,’ who convinced millions of people, including the editors of Scientific American and the New York Times, that they could communicate with the dead,” Sorkin said. “The chance to collaborate with Stephen Schwartz, Jack O’Brien and Hugh Jackman on a new Broadway musical is a huge gift.”

Before he takes the stage, Jackman has a number of other projects on his plate, including the big-screen adaptation of “Les Miserables,” the next installment of “Wolverine” and “Unbound Captives” with Robert Pattinson. Most recently, Jackman starred in the one-man show, “Hugh Jackman: Back on Broadway” and has also starred in “The Boy From Oz” and “A Steady Rain.”

We are just five months away from the release of the hottest vampire movie that doesn’t sparkle in the sunshine, and we’re starting to get excited. Very excited.

But unlike the other major movies that have earned themselves a column here at MTV — “The Avengers,” “The Dark Knight Rises,” “The Hunger Games” and “The Twilight Saga” — we are still waiting for a trailer for “Dark Shadows.” And, well, we’re starting to get pretty impatient.

So far, director Tim Burton has kept a tight lid on his vampire soap opera — only a few official pics from the set (and one much-discussed paparazzi shot of Johnny Depp in character as Barnabas Collins) have been released. But the new year should bring fresh blood. We know filming has wrapped and that things apparently went so well on set that Michelle Pfeiffer told MTV News while promoting “New Year’s Eve” that working on “Dark Shadows” was “a dream job.” Pfeiffer, who plays family matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard, added that she hopes the film does well so “we can do a bunch of them, because it was such a fantastic, creative group of people.”

Whether that on-set camaraderie will translate into the campy big-screen spook-fest we’re hoping for remains to be seen, and while we hope the trailer doesn’t give too much away, here are a few things we’re hoping to see when it arrives.

1. Eva Green in action as Angelique
Angelique Bouchard is the witch who turned Barnabas into a vampire in the late 1700s after their affair went sour. She’s a woman with an axe to grind and has been haunting and cursing the Collins family ever since. So far, the only image we’ve seen of Green in character is the full cast shot, in which she stands in the background wearing modern clothes.

We hope the trailer gives us a taste of how the “Casino Royale” Bond girl is going to play the over-the-top villainess. This is a scenery-chewing role that any actress worth her salt would have a field day with. We have faith that the super sexy starlet will do it justice, but a little advance evidence would be nice. We want to see corsets, blood and maybe a voodoo doll or two.

2. A little insight into what Dr. Hoffman is up to
For us, one of the biggest mysteries of the film is exactly what role Helena Bonham Carter’s Dr. Julia Hoffman will play in the shenanigans at Collinwood Mansion. The actress has described her character as “an alcoholic psychologist,” and screenwriter Seth Grahame-Smith told Entertainment Weekly that Hoffman “has been there for years, working with David [Collins] but not making any progress. He still claims he sees ghosts and talks with his dead mother.”

Grahame-Smith goes on to describe the character as “a woman with a lot of secrets herself” who is “interested in Barnabas in more than one way.”

What no one has mentioned is Hoffman’s role, in the original series, as a blood disorders specialist who attempts to cure Barnabas of his vampirism. We’ll be watching this trailer very closely to see if HBC is carrying more vials than she is notepads.

3. Collinwood Mansion
We got a glimpse of the manor in the cast shot, with its Gothic windows and ancient-looking rugs, but we’re excited to see the rest of the haunted mansion. Overlooking the Atlantic from Collinsport, Maine, the house contains a room that is a gateway to a parallel time, for goodness’ sake. Given that so much of the action of the series takes place within the walls of the mansion, we’re really hoping that Burton and his first-class team of art directors, set designers and cinematographers got it right and captured the regal horror of the place.
